The Yard Preparatory Academy. The Yard Academy has been recognised by the Gauteng Department of Education for its Facility and quality of education. The Yard Preparatory Academy. Our Vision for Grade R, Grade RR and Grade RRR pupils, is to develop them with a solid foundation to go into the world as unique individuals. The Yard Preparatory Academy Extra-Mural Activities:
Swimming – Grade R:
Swimming Lessons – A certified swimming instructor provides professional swimming lessons to all Grade R pupils during the summer months of term 1 and term 4.
Sport – Grade RR:
Sport coaches provide supervised sport activities to enhance muscle tone and improve balance through fun.
Music:
Children are introduced to music through active participation in instrument play and movement. They learn to appreciate music, and there are social, emotional and cognitive benefits from music.
Occupational Therapy Activities:
A qualified Occupational Therapist visits the Yard on a weekly basis to assist educators in the identification of learners with possible cognitive, physical, sensory, and motor skill difficulties..
Language Enrichment Activities:
These activities are offered to all Grade R pupils to improve their English language skills.
Educational Shows:
Various shows and outings are chosen during the year to inform and educate the children relating to curriculum themes and topics.
