Picnics at Fountains Recreation Resort (Fountains Valley). Spend a relaxing day alongside the Apies River. Over weekends the resort is a popular destination for families and friends to have picnics and braais on the well-maintained grounds. There are convenient picnic and braai facilities, a play area, swimming pool and a miniature train for kids.
Picnics at Fountains Recreation Resort. There are various recreational facilities in the region of the two natural springs. A well-equipped caravan park in the shade of large witstinkhout trees, alongside the Apies River. Facilities at the resort include a swimming pool, shelters (dance floors), children’s play park, picnic and braai facilities. The Denneboom Kiosk and the Fountains Deck Pub and Grill are within walking distance of this site.
Mostly during weekends, visitors arrive at the resort to braai (barbeque) – using the convenient facilities – or picnic in the well-maintained grounds. They come to cool off in the large, modern swimming pool. Smaller children can splash in the kiddies’ paddling pool, or play in the two designated areas. There are two tuck shops and a bar at which refreshments can be purchased. There is a lapa to hire for functions. Music festivals are occasionally held at this venue too.
Camping facilities are available for those who want to stay overnight at the resort. Visitors with caravans are also catered for. The resort has a 4×4 track for those looking for off-road adventures, and footpaths for walking.
